Macau Travel Made Easy

Macau is an island located right next to Hong Kong and is has been officially classified as a Special Administrative Region of China. In fact, as recently as 1999 Macau was an overseas territory belonging to Portugal, which colonized the region in the 16th century.

Nowadays, Macau is known as Asia’s most popular destination for gambling and for the fact that it is the most densely populated place on earth. According the most recent census, Macau is home to over 550,000 people living on only 5800 acres, which makes the population density an amazing 95 people per acre. That’s a lot of people living on a very small island.

If you are considering Macau travel , please make sure you book your hotel rooms weeks or even months in advance. As we mentioned, Macau is the premier destination for gambling in Asia and on the weekends tens of thousands of tourists and businessmen take the ferry from Hong Kong and fill up the casinos and hotels in the area faster than you can say, “Jackpot!”

So, if you intend on staying at a casino on the island make sure that you plan your trip in advance. As for actually getting to the island, the easiest and most inexpensive option is to fly directly into Hong Kong and then to take the short ferry ride to Macau. These ferries operate 24 hours a day and leave port every fifteen to twenty minutes.
